The Universitat de Girona (UdG) is a Spanish public institution committed to excellence in teaching and research. Through LEQUIA, its Laboratory of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, UdG brings extensive expertise in developing bioelectrochemical systems for converting CO2 into valuable chemicals and biofuels.
As part of the ALGAESOL EU project, UdG will lead the development of a light harvesting photoanode coupled with bioelectrochemical cathode for microalgae lipid production (P-BE-MA).
↪️ This system will enable lipids production from CO2 capture, extending microalgae growth beyond the limitations of sunlight hours.
🧪 Increased microalgae growth leads to higher lipid production, which will be later processed into sustainable aviation (#SAF) and shipping fuels!
